half asian modeling ?

im half japanese and half westerner. im often told how beautifl i am. i have a chinese fiance, and her family and friends always say it, then random strangers say it also. just recently i was sitting at Hachikou exit at shibuya, and a modeling scout approached me for modeling. we exchanged details, but i gave my old email address, to which i cant remember the password, so i have no way to contact him.

anywhoo, what im wondering is, it seems half asian modeling is very popular in japan, singapore and hongkong lately. i want to hear about other peoples experiences, and also any help they can offer.

how hard is it as a half asian to get modeling work in tokyo, and also who is it with ?

A reputable scout would provide you with a business card that contained their contact details.

Do you get any Japanese magazines? They normally have ads looking for 'dokusha models' reader models. It's definitely something to look into.

I agree with the comment about reputable scouts providing business cards. More than likely this guy was some random freak or from the porn industry. Mixed race "models" are very popular in Japanese porn.

Being a model is difficult because these days there's plenty of competition and it takes a lot more than looks. More than looking good, you have to have "the look" they want. If it's still for you, you can look at ads in fashion magazines. It's not for most people.

If you're seriously thinking about modeling, you better apply to decent agencies. 99% of modeling scouts in Shibuya/Shinjuku are from the porn or mizu-shobai industry, or evil agencies trying to obtain "modeling lesson fee".

I second the above. Shibuya is crawling with people scouting for for the porn and hostess bar industries. A genuine modelling scout will usually be a woman rather than a man, and will give you their card so you can contact them.

Just to add, don't ever give your contact details to people who randomly approach you on the street- you have no idea that that person is really who they say they are. If they give you a card, first confirm they are legit, then contact them.

lil, the reason i said half westerner, is not because i am shallow, but because (due to a long story) my mother never knew where my "father" was from... so i said westerner as i may be half american (white) or half mexican (hispanic) or half of any other race.. i do know for sure my other half is not east asian.

anyway, back to topic, has anybody else had experiences with talent scouts or anything else to share ?
