One Month program/activity in August

Hello all,

I want to apologise in advance as this is somewhat of a vague question. I plan to study abroad this september, however I want to come earlier in early July as to make most of of trip and summer holiday. In July I will be travelling extensively with a group a friends from university, but they all leave by the end of July.
My dilemma is that I need some program or activity or group I can partake for the month of August while I wait for university to start. Something preferably where I can meet people and get to know them. I could do a language course for 1 month, but I would rather not as I will be studying that when I start university anyway.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. =)

How about volunteering at an international work camp for 2-3 weeks? There is a small program fee, but accommodation and meals are provided.

CIEE and NICE organize camps in Japan, and they both have vacancies left on their camps in August. I think you have to apply through a partner organization in your home country, but here are links to their websites in case you're interested in checking them out.

I'm going to spend 2 weeks at a work camp in July myself.
