I have Sony ericsson K770i and a C903 phone. .. will these two phone work in japan, if I am using my home country sim and using the roaming service ?

Yes, both phones operate on the 2100 MHz frequency so they should be able to internationally roam using your home country's sim assuming that your carrier has a roaming agreement with a Japanese carrier. Check your carrier's website for more information.

If the phone is unlocked you can use a Japanese SIM, however unlocking is not required if you plan to roam on your 3 mobile plan. if I am using my home country sim and using the roaming service ?Yes, but you may have to call them before you leave to activate international roaming. http://www.three.co.uk/Help_Support/International
