I have just rented a beautiful old home to a lovely Japanese man and would like to know what I might leave for him to welcome him to his new home. An orchid? A Bonsai? Please advise.

I don't know many Japanese men who can take care of orchids and bonsais, but if it's been with the home for long, then why not. By the way, where is this home?
