I am a big fan of Gachapin, Mameshiba and San-x characters (e.g. Kutusitanyanko & miss piggy). Any recommendations as to where are the best places in Osaka where I can get these character goods?

Try Kiddy Land in Hankyu's San Ban Gai underground shopping mall below Hankyu's Umeda station. They have 2 locations, one is on the ground floor the other is on the B1 floor. If I remember correctly, their "San-X" store is on the ground floor.
