Kyoto subway and train 2012/10/13 03:00
Is the Kyoto subway and train the same?

If I buy the Kyoto Sightseeing Card (1,200 yen for one day) can I use that to cover Arashiyama, Sagano train trip, Tofukuji temple, Kiyomizu-dera temple, Yoshiminedera Temple

Or is the all day bus 500 Yen sufficient ?

Is the Kyoto unlimited pass same as Kyoto sightseeing card ? Does it have similar benefits like Osaka Unlimited Pass with free admission to some tourist attractions ? If yes, which ones does it cover.

thanks !

No. They are all operated by various companies as explained here:

With the pass you can go to Arashiyama by bus but not by train, which is not recommended.
The Sagano train is not covered.
Tofukuji can be reached by bus but not by train.
Kiyomizudera can be reached by bus.
Transportation to Yoshiminedera is not covered.

No, that would only cover buses to Tofukuji and Kiyomizudera.

I have never heard of a "Kyoto unlimited pass".

thanks for the reply

Actually I also have the JR Pass - so that would cover the trains but it looks like I won't need subways for these places so with JR Pass I just need to get the 500 Yen bus pass ?

Arashiyama and Tofukuji are accessible by JR only.

Hankyu bus no 66 takes from JR Mukaimachi station to Yoshiminedera. I wonder if Hankyu bus is covered with the bus pass (as Hankyu is a private company) .

"Arashiyama and Tofukuji are accessible by JR only."

Wrong. The Hankyu goes to Arashiyama and Keihan goes to Tofukuji as well.

The Kyoto city bus in Arashiyama is out of the bus pass zone:

" I wonder if Hankyu bus is covered with the bus pass (as Hankyu is a private company) ."

Hankyu Bus is of course NOT covered by Kyoto City Bus pass. It's a totally different company.
