Thank you for the happy travel wishes :)
I really look forward to going to the north. I have not been able to visit since 5 years ago due to not being able to go to Japan during summer (it has been to cold for me to visit Hokkaido outside summer).

I don't think it would be a bad idea to bring a small tin of cookies from your town to bring to the staff of the hotel as a gesture of appreciation for the troubles you may have caused them.
