Anyway, my application was accepted on April 12, and I had an interview on July 10.

It is the date from application, I had application like you april but interview was at the end of the year.
Your waiting is so long, more than year after interview, is there anything special in your case?
Did you change job?

Sorry for the misunderstanding about my application year. It's 2023, not 2022.
I joined this forum this year because I couldn't find any other forums for naturalization in 2023.

I don't know if the homukyoku is busy or not but I got my answer last friday. Applied after the golden week (2023) and had interview in late july.

I don't know the reason at all.
Yes I'm married to a Japanese national, we have children and I work for the same Japanese company for more than 10 years, it could help. I also applied in a rural prefecture (Shimane) which doesn't seem busy so the local check was pretty quick... I guess.

Sorry for my laaate update, especially for the ones asking and that are also waiting for more than a year.

I finally got approved after almost 18months, so hope you guys donft lose hope.

Application date: 2022/06
Interview date: 2022/11
Approval date: 2023/11 (confirmation call 2weeks before)
Place: Tokyo

Not clear to be honest, but basically what I understood is that there should be some part that needs to be checked that was mentioned by tantousha or we are put into some part of special case.
I would suggest you call and ask them of their expectations to have an answer, to make future plans to travel abroad etc. as I did before.
I understood that tantousha can ask them if he thinks it took more than needed.

Dear All

Congratulations to those who already got the Japanese passport. I have few questions below and if anyone could share their experiences?

1. I started process in January 2023. 4 rounds of interview and Japanese Tests and finally accepted file in mid July 2023.
Mid - august kind of telephonic conversation / interview for 20 min ( they called my wife also same day )
No home visit
Last week got a call from tantousha to check if any changes in address job , recent plans for foreign trips etc.

Today again got a call and tantousha was in a hurry. He asked me over telephone to check the fathers passport and his correct dob.

There was a slight mistake in my fathers DOB and minor corrections for family register names ( mainly Japanese translation part wasnft matching )

1. Anyone experienced this kind of thing in their application ?
2. I havenft received the Žó•t•[ after I submitted documents. Is it common for all ?
3. No personal interview after documents were accepted. He just did all ok telephonic interview. Anybody has given a telephonic interview so far ?

To answer few questions, I received my application paper and interview was face to face, first time i hear both of these, because they need to give you a number in case you need to update or something

During application , if there are any corrections in documents are needed ,then will it delay the approval process ?

I think it wouldnft delay much if itfs just a small change in translation.

And for phone interview Ifve already heard anout similar case. But never heard about not having a case number! In Which part of Japan did you apply?

Thank you for your reply.
I applied in Utsunomiya legal office ( Tochigi ken , Kanto area ).
So far my case worker is very friendly and guided me throughout the process and also corrected the documents. I applied by my own so had lot of mistakes which he corrected.
Last week he called me to check on if there is any change in job , new born baby , address or planning for foreign trips etc.

I hope something positive will come up soon
