Kansai Thru Pass 2008/8/14 05:41
Can Kansai Thru Pass be used for Hankyu Rail is a private rail-line?

Takarazuka 2008/8/14 10:04
You can easily spend a couple of hours in the Ramen Museum, kids may want to stay longer !

If you have more time, take the Hankyu Takarazuka Line north for another 10 min. to Takarazuka. The town has 2 attractions, Takarazuka Grand Theatre and Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum. Both these places are within walking distance from Takarazuka rail station.

Takarazuka Grand Theatre is home to the highly popular all girl musical performing group who gains international fame.

Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum is delicated to the famous comic author Tezuka Osamu who created the famous Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion. Kids may love the colourful cartoon characters displayed in the museum.

BTW Hankyu Rail is listed under the Kansai Thru Pass.

To ABCD 2008/8/14 11:10
which hotel to stay in tokyo

Hi ABCD. I came across K's Hostel that also comes with private room, not sure if it's ensuite. But the location is in Asakusa, seems very central: http://kshouse.jp/tokyo-e/facilities/index.html

Or Sakura Hotel at Ikebukuro is also good. This is just minutes away from subway station with major supermarkets nearby so meals not a problem. http://www.sakura-hotel-ikebukuro.com/hotel_rates.php

For 2 pple, these are less than SGD120.

The front desk in Hotel New Otani will surely help you out if you need the service.

Mishima is a city with a population of over 100,000 people, so there must be some eating places around, esp. near rail and bus stations.

Thanks William!

Am I right to say if I am taking 12.40pm bus from Mishima Station, it will be a direct bus and reach Kawatuchiko Station at 2.50pm? Do I need to pre-book the ticket or can I purchase on the spot? Lastly, issit possible to travel on bus with large luggage?

Kita (Udema) to Minami (Namba) 2008/8/17 00:36
I believed I will need to take train from Osaka station to Minami area? Is so, what is the name of Minami (Namba) station? I tried keying Namba in Hyperdia but destination not found.

here and there 2008/8/17 03:05
Kita Umeda (watch your spelling!)and Minami Namba are a 30 minutes walk from one another. The JR loop line doesn't go to Namba directly, one needs to change trains. in addition the JR Namba station is not close to the major streets etc. The best way is to take the Mido-Suji subway from J-R Osaka to Namba. For Hyperdia Namba is nanba(nankai).

My Iterinary 2008/8/20 03:15
Pls comment on my itinerary :

Day 1: Reach Osaka 7.20am. Leave luggage with hotel, go for breakfast and proceed to Osaka Castle. Check in hotel at 2pm and shopping at Namba area

Day 2 : Universal Studio

Day 3 : Train to Himeji castle in the morning and on the way back to Osaka, drop by Kobe

Day 4 : Meeting in the morning. After lunch, visit Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum, Umeda Sky Building and Shopping (Hankyu, Hanshin and Daimaru)

Day 5 : Kyoto tour

Day 6 : Osaka to Lake Kawaguchi

Day 7 (6 Sep) : Visit 5th station in the morning and proceed to Tokyo. Reach Tokyo around 5pm. Visit Roppongi Hills & Tokyo Tower?

Day 8 : Tokyo

Day 9 : Disneyland

Day 10 : 6.15pm flight

Questions :
1) Issit better to visit Umeda Sky Building in the day or at night?
2) Issit better to go disneyland on Mon than Sun?
3) I have very limited time in Tokyo. Have not really do my homework on Tokyo but would like to visit Tsukiji Fish Market, Asakusa, Shinjuku, Roppongi Hills & Tokyo Tower, Ueno Park. Possible to cover all and any other must visit places in Tokyo?

your trip 2008/8/22 08:13
both Universal studios and Disneyland are definitely not appropriate for a 19 months child. Do you remember anything from the days you were 19 month? I sure don't! my firsts memories are from around the ages of 3-4 and they are very vague.Even adults shouldn't go to these places as there are so many other more interesting cultural JAPANESE sights. Your day in Tokyo is far too crowded, another very good reason to skip Disneyland.
