Korankei: Peak Colors

We are now in the second half of November, when the leaves that change colors usually develop more red and orange hues than remain green. I made my way to Nagoya after yesterday's autumn color report from Tokyo, where I found the leaves to be approaching their peak.
My destination for today was Korankei, a popular autumn color viewing spot in Aichi Prefecture, about two hours by train and bus from central Nagoya. The maple leaves here were at their best, and some trees had only red leaves, which was quite a sight in the sun. As Korankei is located in a valley, my recommendation is to visit from mid-morning as the sun would be high enough to illuminate the colorful trees.
An autumn color festival is held at Korankei until November 30. Food stalls open for business during the festival period, and the trees are illuminated from sunset till 21:00.
